Finca Senda Salvaje

The Pure and Elegant Character of High-Altitude Bolivian Coffee

Located in the highlands of Caranavi, Bolivia, Senda Salvaje is surrounded by pristine forests and a rich natural ecosystem. This exceptional environment provides ideal conditions for producing specialty coffee with remarkable clarity, complexity, and refined character.

The name Senda Salvaje means “Wild Path” in Spanish. It represents a harmonious relationship between people and nature, while reflecting a deep respect for the land and its natural environment.

The estate was founded by Carmelo Yujra, who previously served as a quality manager for Bolivia’s Cup of Excellence (COE). Drawing on years of experience in coffee cupping and quality evaluation, Carmelo is committed to cultivating coffee by variety, harvesting cherries selectively in separate lots, and applying meticulous processing methods. Through this approach, each variety is given the opportunity to express its unique terroir, contributing to the growing recognition of Bolivian specialty coffee around the world.

Java|A Rising Star of Specialty Coffee in Bolivia and Panama

The Java variety traces its genetic origins to Ethiopia. Although its name comes from the island of Java in Indonesia, where the variety was historically propagated, Java has since gained recognition across Central and South America for its combination of excellent disease resistance and outstanding cup quality.

In recent years, Java has become one of the most distinctive specialty coffee varieties in Bolivia. Its refined floral character, bright citrus acidity, and golden-sugar sweetness are complemented by a smooth, creamy mouthfeel reminiscent of macadamia nuts and butter. Together, these qualities reveal the elegance and complexity of high-altitude Bolivian terroir.

Through classic washed processing, this coffee preserves the pure aromatics and sweetness characteristic of the Java variety, while expressing Senda Salvaje’s commitment to quality and the spirit of continuous pursuit that defines Bolivia’s specialty coffee movement.
