About Biome Coffee

Biome Coffee is one of the most recognized specialty coffee processing and exporting organizations in Myanmar. The company operates processing facilities in both Pyin Oo Lwin and Ywangan, Shan State, while collaborating with approximately 15 groups of coffee producers. Through continuous research and innovation in post-harvest processing, Biome carefully manages every stage from cherry selection and fermentation to drying and grading, striving to showcase the purest and most distinctive characteristics of Myanmar coffee.

In addition to quality control, Biome actively shares processing knowledge and technical expertise with local producers, helping them improve coffee quality while fostering long-term and stable partnerships throughout the region.

Located in the southern Shan Highlands of Myanmar, Ywangan has emerged as one of the country's most promising specialty coffee-producing regions in recent years. Benefiting from elevations ranging from approximately 1,200 to 1,350 meters above sea level, significant diurnal temperature variation, and fertile limestone-rich red soils, the region produces coffees known for their refined flavors and remarkable complexity.

Coffees from La Pan Pyin in Ywangan typically exhibit bright and elegant acidity, delicate aromatics, and a brown sugar-like sweetness. Depending on the variety and processing method, flavor profiles may reveal notes of citrus, bergamot, apricot, berries, grape, tropical fruits, nutmeg, and black tea. The combination of cup clarity and lingering sweetness highlights the unique charm of Myanmar specialty coffee.

Although Myanmar remains a relatively young origin within the global specialty coffee industry, producers and processing partners such as those in Ywangan and Biome Coffee are steadily gaining international recognition through their commitment to quality, consistency, and innovation, allowing the exceptional coffees of the Shan Highlands to reach a wider audience around the world.
